Townsend A. Rockwell, 64, Columbus
Townsend A. Rockwell, 64, of South Jonesville Road died at noon Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2009, at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.
Mr. Rockwell came to Columbus in 1963 with his parents who worked for the Elsie Sweeney family. He retired in 1996 from Cummins Engine Co. where he worked 30 years.
A Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, he was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and a former member of Columbus Gun Club and Silver Creek Beagle Club.
He was an avid sports fan.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. John McKay officiating. Calling will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Jonathan Moore Pike and at the church from 9:30 a.m. until service time Monday. Burial will be at Bethel Baptist Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be conducted by Bartholomew County Veterans Color Guard.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Bethel Baptist Church or Hospice of South Central Indiana.

Born in Castine, Maine, April 17, 1944, Mr. Rockwell was the son of Wallace and Louise Allen Rockwell. He married Florence A. Carter Jan. 29, 1968.
Survivors include his father, of Brooklin, Maine; his wife; sons, Thomas A. Rockwell (Tina Liming) of Taylorsville and Ronnie F. Rockwell of Columbus; grandchildren, Katelyn and Sara Rockwell; sisters, Lorna Grant of Brooklin, Maine, and Vauna Haza of Winterport, Maine; one niece; and four nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
