Betty G. Rockwell, 91, a resident of Indianapolis, passed from this life on Friday, August 2nd 2013 at her daughter's residence in St. Simon's Island, Georgia.

She was born in Hamilton, Ontario on September 4, 1921 to the late Stanley and Muriel (Pettit) Brownell. Betty grew up in New York where she graduated high school and obtained her associates degree from the Baptist Bible College. Shortly thereafter, she married Robert E. Rockwell on August 21, 1945; he preceded her in death on January 27, 2008.

As a military wife, Betty was actively involved in various women's organizations and her husband's ministry. She was a devoted, wife, mother, grandmother and Christian. She took pleasure in quilting, making baskets, needlepoint, stained glass and pottery and was a member of the First Christian Church in Martinsville.

In the mid 1970's, following Bob's retirement from the military, they moved to Indiana making Morgan County their home. After Bob's passing in 2008, Betty moved to Indianapolis to be nearer her family.

She was blessed with three children, seven grandchildren and a great granddaughter, as well as many other friends and relatives who will miss her dearly. Her survivors include her two sons, Steven Rockwell (wife, Jane) of Little Rock, AR and Thomas Rockwell (wife, Sharon) of Indianapolis; daughter, Suzanne Miller (husband, Bob) of St. Simons Island, GA; seven grandchildren, Neil, Tavis and Samantha Rockwell, Matthew, Jeremy & Drew Miller and Nicole (Rockwell) Shelton; great granddaughter, Lark Suzanne Miller and sister, Nina Kendrick of Warsaw, IN.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband of nearly 63 years, Bob Rockwell; two brothers, Walt and Stan Brownell and sister, Mary Lou Brownell.

Family and friends are invited to join in a graveside service celebrating Betty's life on Saturday, August 10th beginning at 1:30 p.m. at Friendship Park Cemetery in Paragon. Dr. Mark Poindexter will officiate and burial will follow the ceremony.
