Bettie Jean (Grishaw) Rockwell, 88, Atlanta, died at 6:25 a.m. Wednesday, November 15, 2006 at Harbour Manor Care Center in Noblesville.

She was born September 5, 1918 in Tipton to Hubert & May (Shook) Grishaw. On May 28, 1940 she married Raymond Earl Rockwell and he preceded her in death on June 2, 1992.

Bettie was a bookkeeper at Tebco Fertilizer in Durbin, a 1937 graduate of Tipton High School and a member of West Street Christian Church. She was a 4-H Leader and belonged to Tri-Kappa. Bettie enjoyed being with family and making things for her family. She loved quilting, knitting, cooking, needlework and weaving. She loved antiques and Haviland china.

She is survived by five children, Rebecca Anne Shaw and husband Fred, Orangeville, Ontario, Marybeth Lightfoot and husband Gary, Tipton, Raymond H Rockwell and wife Linda Kay, Atlanta, Amy Elizabeth Hartley and husband Steve, Tipton, and Randall Earl Rockwell and wife Denise, Atlanta.

Bettie is also survived by two brothers, Robert Grishaw and wife Virginia, Elwood, and Donald Grishaw and wife Sally, Florida; one sister-in-law, Geneva Grishaw, Tipton; 14 grandchildren, Catherine Penney, Aaron Gormanshaw, Nanette Horton, Todd Lightfoot, Luke Lightfoot, Lisa Lightfoot, Tracey, Sandy and Mitchell Rockwell, Carrie Cloud, Adam Hartley, Matthew Rockwell, Melissa Humburg and Staci Rockwell; ten great-grandchildren. One brother, Phillip Grishaw, is deceased.

Her funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 18 at West Street Christian Church, 132 N. West Street, with Rev. Janice Burns-Watson presiding. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Friday at Young-Nichols Funeral Home and from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to help fight breast cancer through the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 82, Tipton, Indiana, 46072.
