Joe V. Rocha, 74 of Miami, Ariz. passed away Monday, March 29, 2010, at Sharp Hospital in Chula Vista, Calif. He was born in Miami, Ariz. on July 17, 1936, the son of Benjamin and Maria Rocha.
Joe attained his undergrad and Masters of Education from NAU in Flagstaff, Ariz. and was a good athlete who was offered a baseball scholarship to the University of Arizona. He began his teaching career at Bullion Plaza in Miami and later as Assistant Principal and baseball/basketball coach at Miami High School.
Joe was all for the students as he always strived for the best as it was evident when he helped MHS attain a beautiful greyhound bus. He was an assistant principal in La Puente, Calif. and was a teacher for the LA Unified School District. He ended his education career substitute teaching in Arizona as he devoted much of his life mentoring and helping the troubled youth as he felt everyone deserved a chance.
Joe is survived by his former wife, Nellie; sons, Joe, Jason; daughter, Jonelle; sisters, Mary (Gutierrez) Rocha, Esther (Avalos) Rocha, and revered by seven grandchildren. Joe is preceded in death by his brothers Benjamin and Ezekiel (Chino) Rocha. Joe will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him
Visitation will be Wednesday, April 7 at 9 a.m. at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament in Miami. Rosary will follow visitation at 9:30 a.m. Mass will be April 7 at 10 a.m. Interment will be at Globe Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements for Joe V. Rocha were entrusted to Miles Funeral Services.

Joe was 73 at the time of his death and He also taught and substituted for the Santa Ana School District in Orange County, California per daughter Jonelle.
