Bush Active in church work Services for Clarcy Louise Robinson Bush, who was active in church work and had been a housekeeper for members of the wealthy Middendorf family of Baltimore for many years, will be held at 6:30 p.m. today at the First Charity Baptist Church, 611 N. Aisquith St.
Mrs. Bush, who was 60, died Saturday of cancer at home in Stevenson. She began working as a household technician, as she described it, for the late investment banker and Baltimore Zoo benefactor J. William Middendorf 28 years ago, then worked for his daughter, A. Carter Middendorf, for the past 18 years.
The former Clarcy Louise Robinson was born in Lynchburg, S.C., and was educated in public schools there and in Baltimore.
A former resident of the Govans area, she served as secretary of the Winston Govans Improvement Association and was awarded a citation from the City Council president for her work.
For nearly 10 years before retiring because of ill health about six months ago, she served as president of the Willing Workers at First Charity Baptist Church. She had earlier been a member of other groups at the church, the Pastor's Aides, the Missionary Guild and the Memorial Guild, but resigned to devote full time to the Willing Workers.
She is survived by her husband, Edward Blake Bush; six daughters, Lauretta Barr, Denise Cox, Cynthia Robinson, Robin Robinson, Karen Bush and Bonita Bush; a son, Ronald Robinson; two sisters, Essie Allen and Barbara Hemphill; three brothers, Louis Abraham Witherspoon, Richard Lee Witherspoon and Larry Donnell Witherspoon; and six grandchildren. All are of Baltimore.
