COLCHESTER - Judy Ann Bergeron, 67, a lifelong resident of Colchester, died peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Tuesday, July 13, 2010 in Fletcher Allen Health Care of Burlington following a long battle with cancer.

Judy was born in Burlington on Jan. 20, 1943, the daughter of Leon and Mildred (Richardson) Roberts.

She graduated from Burlington High School in 1961 and attended Champlain College. On Sept. 8, 1962, she was married in Colchester to Paul U. Bergeron.

Through the years, Judy was employed at Beneficial Finance, Connecticut General, Bergeron Hardware, Val Preda's, Pine Ridge School, Vermont Transit/Greyhound, and established Frog & Toad Daycare. She was a member of the Board at Camp Tara, and was a former chairperson with the Holy Cross Parish Council. Judy was an avid gardener and enjoyed animals, birds and identifying birds, boating, traveling, camping at Marble Island with friends, Sue and Jim Ready, but mostly spending time with and caring for her family.

She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Paul U. Bergeron; three sons, Eric Bergeron and his fiancÚ, Kimberly Kirby (and her children, Sarah, Emily, and Corey), Nathan Bergeron and his wife, Joanne and children, Ethan, Emma, and Everett, and Todd Bergeron and his wife Jennifer (and her daughter, Paige) and their child Tullus Bergeron (and his mother Tiffany Bergeron); her brother, Leon Roberts, Jr.; her sister, Virginia Smith and husband, David; sister-in-law, Shelby Roberts; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Judy was predeceased by her parents; and two brothers, George Roberts and Spencer Roberts.

Visiting hours will be on Friday, July 16, 2010 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the LaVigne Funeral Home, 132 Main St. in Winooski.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, July 17 at 11 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Colchester.

Interment will be at Malletts Bay Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
