Mayme Sue Cobb
August 29, 1925 - December 12, 2015
Mayme Sue Cobb, known to most as Sue, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 12, 2015. Sue was born on August 29, 1925 in Sylvester, Texas to Pricilla and John Everett Roberts. After moving to El Paso she met John Hiley Cobb, who was in the Army and stationed at Fort Bliss. They married in 1948. Sue was a devoted Army wife who cared for her home and family as John's Army assignments took them to many stations overseas and in the United States.
Following John's retirement from the Army in 1973, they moved to Austin, Texas where they met many new friends and connected with many other West Point graduates and their families.
Sue is preceded in death by her husband, Col John H. Cobb. She is survived by her daughter, Ann Pell; daughter Linda Oprendek and her husband Trey; two grandchildren, Stacy Pell Auld and her husband Judah; Ryan Pell and his wife Kimberly. She is also survived by her three great grandchildren, Jacob Pell, Joshua Pell, and Luke Auld; and her nephew John Silverman and his family of EI Paso, Texas.
Visitation will be held Sunday, December 20th from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Weed-Corley-Fish on North Lamar in Austin, Texas. The graveside service will be Monday, December 21st at 9:30 a.m. at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas.
Her family would like to thank the many kind people who cared for her during her illness. A special thanks go to the loving caregivers at Clare Bridge, Brookdale Northwest Hills. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Alzheimer's Association.
