COOKEVILLE -- Funeral services for Bessie Marie Buckner, 83, of Cookeville, will be held at 1 p.m. on Wed., May 5, from the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper & Huddleston Funeral Home. Burial will be in James Bohannon Cemetery in the Poplar Grove Community.
The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. today, Tues., May 4, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Buckner died on Mon., May 3, 1999, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.
She was born on July 20, 1915, in Putnam County to the late Bro. Jim and Daisy Marie Hyder Roberson. Mrs. Buckner was retired from Ford Motor Company. She was a lifelong active member of Cookeville First Baptist Church.
Her family includes her husband of more than 64 years, Issac Buckner; a son, Merle Matheney of Smyrna; two daughters and a son-in-law, Diana and Robert Lynch of Cookeville and Janice Baker of Detroit, Mich.; a brother, Clarence Roberson of Cookeville; four sisters, Verda Craig of Tampa, Fla., Cleo Lazarine and Pauline Roberson, both of Cookeville and Geraldine Gentry of Knoxville; six grandchildren, Julie Hobbs, Michael and Bobby Lynch, Raymond Matheney, Linda Porter and Ruth Montgomery; eight great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a sister, Opal Robbins; and a brother, Clyde Roberson.
Pallbearers will be Bobby and Michael Lynch, Don Roberson, Raymond Matheney, Jerry Jones and Mike Montgomery.
Rev. Bobby Sebastian, minister of Poplar Grove Baptist Church, will officiate at the services.
