Illinois, USA
Death: Jun. 5, 1941
Shawnee County
Kansas, USA

Relatives here received word last Thursday of the death in Topeka of Mrs. Edna R. Gray which occurred that morning. Mrs. Gray, widow of the late James F. Gray, was well-known in Kirwin where she lived so many years, and her many friends and relatives here and in other places are grieved to hear of her death.

Edna Leana Roberson was born on March 24, 1878, at St. Augusta, Illinois, daughter of H. L. F. Roberson and Nancy Jared Roberson. After a few years the family moved to Kansas where they lived a short time before moving to Medford, Oklahoma, which, in turn, was to be their home for only a few years. Leaving Medford, they returned to Kingman, Kansas, where they lived for many years.

After attending the grade and high schools of Kingman, Edna went to Emporia where she was graduated from the State Normal School. She then taught school for several years.

On November 24, 1904, she was married to James F. Gray at Kingman, Kansas. They lived in Kirwin following their marriage.

Five sons were born to them. One son died in infancy, and the other four Norman Dwight Gray, Frank Roberson Gray, James William Gray and Theodore John Gray survive. After a long illness, Edna R. Gray died in Topeka on June 5, 1941. Besides her sons, also surviving are a sister, Mrs. B. W. Trull of Palacios, Texas, and an aunt, Miss Margaret Jared of Kingman, Kansas.

Funeral services were held on Saturday at 2:00 o'clock at the Congregational church with Rev. Lower in charge. Pallbearers were Arthur Stagg, Charles Townsend, Alfred McFadden, and G. E. Reynolds.

A quartet composed of Mrs. Frank Brotemarkle, Mrs. Russell McFadden, Charles Stuckman, and Ted Stuckman, with Mrs. Marion Klontz at the piano, furnished the music. Those who cared for the flowers were Mrs. H. P. Landes, Mrs. G. E. Reynolds, Mrs. Fred Fisk, Mrs. Albert Fink, and Mrs. Ray Downing.

Burial was in the Kirwin cemetery.
