Mrs. Eva Roberson Bland Blackburn, age 81, died Wednesday morning, October 29, 2014, at the Ogeechee Area Hospice Inpatient Facility.
The Emanuel County native lived in Portal, Georgia most of her life. She was a 1948 graduate of Emanuel County Institute. Mrs. Blackburn began her employment with Pride Manufacturing Company in 1963 and retired as a supervisor in 2006, following 43 years of service. She was a member of the Statesboro Primitive Baptist Church.
Mrs. Eva was preceded in death by her parents, Melba Sutton Roberson and Ebb Roberson; her first husband, George Bland and her second husband Dude Blackburn.
Surviving are a daughter, Jackie Bland of Portal; a son George Barry Bland of Portal; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Anna and George Gilmer of Aiken, SC and her beloved Boston Terrier Fred.
Visitation will be Friday from 10:00am until 11:00am at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home in Statesboro.
Funeral services will be Friday at 11:00am in the chapel of Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home with Elder Bill Durrence officiating.
Interment will be in the Upper Mill Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Glenn Womack, Steve Brown, Richard Motes, Mike Arieta, Scott Skrine and Kim Carter.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Ogeechee Area Hospice, P.O. Box 531, Statesboro, Ga. 30459.
