Bernice Pearl (Roark) Reese passed away Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2005 at Sierra Vista Hospital after a long illness, surrounded by her family. A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 5, in the Main Clubhouse of Laguna Lake Mobile Home Park, 1801 Prefumo Canyon Road, San Luis Obispo. Bernice was born Jan. 10, 1923 in Whittier, Calif. to Charles and Oma Roark. She married Ralph Reese on May 21, 1945 and was the proud mother of three children. Bernice worked for Beckman Instruments until retirement in 1972. Her hobbies included working daily crossword puzzles, reading, working in her garden (for which she had a green thumb), and doing needlepoint. She was an expert bridge and card player and would play anytime she could get a game together. She loved traveling throughout the United States. Bernice is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Ralph, her daughter April and husband Alan Langstraat, her daughter Mary Miller, and her son Ralph and wife Druci Reese; her seven grandchildren Henry and wife Roxanne, Ben, Charlotte and husband Chad, Hattie, Ryan, Dustin and wife Shelby, and Conner; her four beautiful great-grandchildren Damon, Kaitlyn, Nathan and Joshua, and numerous extended family and friends. She was truly loved by all who knew her. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the National Kidney Foundation, 30 East 33rd Street, New York, NY 10016 (
