MONTE VISTA — Monte Vista resident Sarah L. Lozoya, 73, passed away April 7, 2012 at her home under hospice care surrounded by her loving family.
Sarah was born on May 12, 1938 in Embudo, New Mexico, the daughter of Antonio Rivera and Angela Sanchez Rivera. Sarah was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister who enjoyed Spanish music, dancing, puzzles, embroidering and caring for her grandchildren.
Survivors include her daughters Sharon (Ryan) Lujan, Renee Cervantez, Barbara Montoya, Francine (Sigifredo) Lozoya-Rodriguez, Blanca (Art) Lozoya-Garza all of Monte Vista, Colo.; Elaine Chavez of Whitesboro, Texas; Christine (Augustine) Piñon of Dodge City, Kan.; sons Heriberto Lozoya of Greeley, Colo.; Jesus (Keisha) Garcia of Monte Vista, Colo.; 29 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, sister Angie (Juan) Marquez of Monte Vista, Colo.; one brother-in-law-John Gonzales of Monte Vista, Colo. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Sarah was preceded in death by her parents, two sons Frankie and Andrew Montoya, one daughter Margie Montoya, four grandchildren Josette Arellano, Sarita Montoya, Rebecca Garcia, Christopher Lozoya, one sister Betty Gonzales and one brother Sonny Rivera.
A Vigil Service with Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at 7 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Monte Vista, Colo. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Thursday, April 12, 2012 at 10 a.m. also at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment will follow at the San Luis Valley Cemetery. Viewing and visitation will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday from 1-5 p.m. at the Romero Funeral Chapel in Monte Vista who is in care of the Arrangements.
