Christina Maria Hyde, a former resident of Nambe, NM, Irving, TX and Santa Fe, NM., passed away at Rio Rancho Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, on Monday, February 21, 2011 at the age of 65. Christina was born November 29, 1945 in Espanola, NM to Lorenzo and Cordelia Rivera. She attended Pojoaque High School, New Mexico State University and worked for the State of New Mexico Health and Environment Department, as Auditor, for 28 years. Christina loved the Dallas Cowboys, enjoyed fishing and traveling. She was a longtime active member of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Pojoaque and Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Nambe, where she also played organ for the church for many years. Christina was preceded in death by her parents, Cordelia and Lorenzo Rivera; grandparents, Vitalia and Juan Rivera, Eloisa and Canuto Ortiz; and brother-in-law, Manuel Sedillo. She is survived by her siblings, Lourdes Sedillo of Albuquerque, Larry Rivera of Denver, Veronica Schroer and husband Phil of Rio Rancho; nephews and nieces, Shonn Schroer and wife Michelle of Rio Rancho, NM, Mandee Schroer of Portland, OR, Michelle Rivera of Denver, Justin Schroer of Fresno, CA and Nicholas Schroer of Denver, CO; special friend, Marty Davenport; godmother, Mela Romero; her cats, Nadia and Taies; as well as many cousins, other family members and friends who loved and will miss her. Services will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Nambe, NM on Saturday, February 26, 2011. A Rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., with Fr. Leo Ortiz of St. Anne's Parish, serving as officiant. Interment will follow at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Cemetery. The family would like to thank House Calls of New Mexico and Nurse Jean Jones as well as caregiver, Marie Valdez for of you care in love in this difficult time. Christina will be remembered by three words that sum up the life: Birth, Joy and Peace. A memorial fund has been established.
