Gladys was born in Scholich, Germany on September 10, 1924 to the late Johann & Meta Ritter.
At the young age of 4, Gladys and her family immigrated to the USA and she lived in the Houston Area until her passing.
She found her lifelong job at the age of 18 when she began to work at West End Cleaners, and after many years of employment she and husband Earl purchased the business, where she took pride and enjoyment of making sure that every customer was completely taken care of.
After selling the business in 1988, she continued to work there for several more years before fully retiring. In her free time, she could often be found at the local bingo hall or playing cards or poker with friends.
Gladys was a lifelong member of Messiah Lutheran Church, where she volunteered in many areas and enjoyed her time with friends in "Martha's Circle".
She is survived by her daughters: Clara Vienne and Cindy Korenek and husband Michael, Daughter by marriage, Linda Hoskin and husband Gary and Daughter-In-Law by marriage Andrea (Andy) Barclay; 10 grandchildren, a number of great-grandchildren, two great great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Gladys is preceded in death by both of her husbands, Jeff Foster and Earl Barclay, son by marriage Kenneth Barclay, brother Willie Ritter and sister-in-law Millie Ritter.
The visitation and funeral service will be on Saturday, August 29, 2015, at Messiah Lutheran Church at 816 Roy Street, Houston, Texas 77007.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM with the Funeral service at 11:00 AM, followed by Graveside services at Memorial Oaks Cemetery, 13001 Katy Freeway.
