Final Rites for Arthur Risley, 72
Arthur P. Risley, 72, retired citrus grower and resident of Covina for thirty-eight years, passed away on Wednesday, March 4, at his home at 331 Italia street.
Although in failing health for the past year, Mr. Risley was ill only a few days. He was an active member o the Baptist church, having united with the church at the age of 16. During his residence in Covina, he held numerous offices in the church and was a deacon emeritus at the time of his death.
A native of Kansas, Mr. Risley was born March 27, 1875. With his parents, he moved to the state of Oregon; and in 1889 to Washington, where he lived until 1910, when he came to Covina.
Funeral arrangements were delayed until the arrival of his son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Merton I. Risley from Plainville, Connecticut. Services were conducted March 11 at 2 o'clock in the chapel of Custer and Christiansen with Rev. George A. Thompson, pastor of the Baptist church officiating.
Music was furnished by Mrs. Wayne Pendleton, who sang "The City Four Square" and "Sometime We'll Understand."
Besides his son, Merton, he is survived by his widow, Agnes E. at the family home.
Bearers were W.H. Perkins, G. W. Wright, Herman Jones, Elmer Monin, Chet Sherwood and George Waterman.
Burial was at Oakdale cemetery.
