Loren Thomas Ripperger, 70, died March 29, 2013 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at McLaren's Chapel in West Des Moines. Burial will be at Resthaven Cemetery with Military Honors. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 Wednesday at the funeral home.

Loren was born August 5, 1942 in Lacona, IA, to Thomas Raymond and Clara Ann (Freuh) Ripperger. He graduated from Southeast Warren High in 1960. Loren worked for the City of West Des Moines for nearly 37 years. He served six years in the Army National Guard of Iowa where he was a sergeant in the 186th Military Police Company.

Those left to cherish Loren's memory are his wife, Maggie; daughter, Shelly (Jon) Greenwell; step-daughters, Becky Duchesnau and Mia Beesley; step-sons, David Wessman, Travis (Colleen) Beesley and Jeff Redman; two sisters, Pat (Glen) Hoch and Louise (Chauncey) Stanley; one brother, Delbert H. (Phyllis) Ripperger; many grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Donna Jean (Lester) Ripperger and Darlene (Ken) Ripperger.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter; five brothers and two sisters.
