Mat Rentamaki, a miner was found dead in the Great Western mine last Saturday night with the top of his head completely blown off. He was found in a chute by the trammers on the night shift.
Rentimaki and his partner had drilled a round of holes during the afternoon. His partner wished to go fishing and left early, Rentimaki consenting to charge the holes and do the blasting alone.
Just what happened no one knows as none were present when the accident occurred.
He was a single man and as his body was horribly mutilated. The funeral was held the following forenoon from the Finnish Lutheran church.
