Dorathea E. Barney, 87, of East Bridgewater died Aug. 22, in the St. Joseph Manor, Brockton, after a period of failing health. She was the widow of Harold V. Barney. She was born in East Bridgewater, daughter of the late M. Edward and Catherine (Murphy) Ring. Dorathea was a school teacher from 1957-1982 at the Central School in East Bridgewater. She was a member of the Council of Aging, St. John's Catholic Women's Guild and was listed in the Who's Who of Teaching, and a member of the State and National Teacher's Association. Survivors include a daughter, Deborah A. and her husband Robert (retired BPD) English of East Bridgewater; a son, Sgt. Kevin F. Barney (NLPD) of New London, Conn.; a granddaughter, Candace M. Frabetti of Brockton; three great-grandchildren, Paige M., Gabrielle T., Mackenzie R. Frabetti, all of Brockton. She was also grandmother of the late Kendra M. Frabetti and sister of the late E. Donald Ring. Funeral services from the Home of Funerarias Multi Culturel, 238 Court St., Brockton, Saturday, Aug. 25, at 9 a.m., followed by a Mass in St. John's Church, East Bridgewater, at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Central Cemetery.
