Ruth Grantham, 87, of Big Spring died Saturday, Jan. 6, 2007, at her residence.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Myers & Smith Chapel with the Rev. Don Snipes, pastor of Baptist Temple Church, officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Olive Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Tuesday at Myers & Smith Funeral Home.
Ruth was born May 31, 1919, in Howard County to Jenny and Dick Rigsby. She was a lifetime resident of Howard County. Ruth married Emmett Grantham March 11, 1940, in Big Spring. He preceded her in death Dec. 8, 1985. Ruth attended Centerpoint School and Beauty School in Big Spring. She was a beautician in Big Spring for over 70 years, having worked many years at the Crawford Hotel Beauty Shop. She later worked with her sister at the Beauty Bar. Ruth was a member of Baptist Temple Church.
Ruth is survived by one sister, Odie Thompson of Big Spring; and several nieces and nephews including Dixie Daves, Raymond and Faye Stallings, Lyle and Lorrie Grantham, and Jean Roman, all of Big Spring and Billy Joe Nichols of Bakersfield, Calif.; several great-nieces and nephews, including Shannon Estelle Gleave and Terry Lance Daves and a number of other great-nieces and nephews; and a very special friend and neighbor, Lloyd Cobb of Big Spring.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Dick William Rigsby Jr.; one sister, Wilma Nichols and one nephew, Dick William Rigsby III.
Pallbearers will be Raymond Stallings, Lloyd Cobb, Lyle Grantham, Larry Bennett, Grady Grantham and Gary Stallings. Honorary Pallbearers will be Murry Vise, R.H. Weaver, T.F. Horton and Reaves Moren.
