Ruby Belle Bowman, age 89 of Hillview, died Monday, March 8th. 2010, at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville. Born in Chapin on October 5, 1920, she was the daughter of Willard A. and Florence Ethel Dawdy Rigg. She married Bernard Lynn Bowman on December 23, 1939 in Louisiana, MO and he survives.

Also surviving is a nephew Ricky Rigg of Jacksonville, and great niece and nephew Cathy and Richard Rigg both of Bloomington. She was preceded in death by two daughters Bonnie Jane, who died in infancy, and Bonnie Joy Milstead who died in an accident during her freshman year of college at Edwardsville, a brother Richard Rigg and a niece Tina Rigg.

She graduated from White Hall High School in 1938 and was employed for a short time at the White Hall Register Newspaper. She and her husband lived on their farm north of Patterson and Hillview for more than 65 years. She was a long time member of the Hillview Baptist church where she had record of 39 years Sunday school attendance. She and her husband taught teen-age Sunday school class for over 30 years. Ruby was a musician, singing and playing the organ at the Church and for many funerals.

Services were entrusted to Airsman-Hires Funeral Home of White Hall, Illinois.
