Funeral services for Albert John Riess, 56, former owner of the Star hotel in Ritzville, were held Wednesday at Emanuel Lutheran church.
Riess died Saturday of a heart ailment at Adams County Memorial hospital after being ill one week.
He was born to Mr. and Mrs. John Riess at Elgin, Minn., Nov. 13, 1905.
He married Mable Sill Aug. 21, 1944, at Rochester, Minn.
Riess had lived in Ritzville the last 17 years. Prior to that he served three years and eight months during World War II in the U.S. army.
He was shop foreman at the Adams county road department at the time of his death.
He was a member of the American Legion and the Lutheran church.
Surviving are his wife at the home at 802 South Division; a daughter, Mrs. Jacqualine Pouley of Lind; five sisters, Mrs. Anna Roth and Mrs. Rosie Sanford, both of Rochester, Minn., Mrs. Lawrence Messner of Eyota, Minn., Mrs. Irene Meyers of Plainview, Minn., and Francis Smith of San Diego, Calif.
Also surviving are five brothers, Herbert and Lester of Douglas, Minn., Clarence of Kosson, Minn., Harold of Rochester, Minn., and Kenneth of Minneapolis, Minn., and two grandchildren.
Rev. Albert Wagner officiated at the services. Interment was at the Lutheran cemetery.
Pallbearers were Clint Rowe, Alex Werner, Ted Ferderer, Lawrence Hilzer, Roger Hart and Orville Ahern.
