Helen L. Davis, age 87 of Gibson City died at 6:10 a.m. Saturday, 10-27-2001 at Provena Covenant Medical Center in Urbana. Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Monday, October 29 at Lamb Funeral Home in Gibson City with the Reverend Rebecca Zelensky officiating. Burial will be in Drummer Twp Cemetery in Gibson City. Visitation was from 10 - 11 a.m. October 29 at the funeral home.
Honorary pallbearers were Edgar Long and Mae Long. Active pallbearers included Lowell Mest, Vernon Castor and Duane Shaw.
Mrs. Davis was born 12-26-1913 at Saybrook a daughter of Upton and Alice Bear Rider. She married John W. Davis in 1945. He died 12-3-1966.
Survivors include three nieces, Darline Castor of Urbana, Joyce Shaw of Olney and Lorene O'Neal of Gibson City and one step-sister, Rita Meadors of Joliet. She was preceded in death by one step-daughter and three sisters.
Mrs. Davis was a retired cook from the Gibson City schools, where she worked for 25 years. She was a member of the First Christian Church for 65 years. She was a member of the Senior Citizens Club. Memorials may be made to the Gibson Community Hospice Program.
