James E. Richmond, 78, of Wyanet died at 2:25 p.m. Oct. 2, 2002, in Methodist Medical Center, Peoria. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Grant-Johnson Funeral Home, Wyanet, with the Rev. Robert Allen officiating. Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery, Wyanet, with graveside military rites by Wyanet VFW 6634.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
Mr. Richmond was born Nov. 8, 1923, in Seymour, Ind., to Russell and Blanche (Dailey) Richmond. He married Dorothy L. Cluff on April 17, 1946, in Princeton.
He served during World War II in Army Tech 5 as a truck driver. He was a charter member of Wyanet VFW 6634, a member of Buda American Legion 261 and former school board president for Wyanet District 510. He was the owner and operator of Wyanet Plumbing and Heating for 25 years.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy L. Richmond of Wyanet; one son, Ronald (Lesley) Richmond of Canton; two daughters, Barbara (Tom) Martin of Frankfort and Lori (John)Graham of Ottawa; one granddaughter; one brother, Gorden (Marilyn Horton) Richmond of Wyanet; and two sisters, Donnie Sue (Willie) Hollon of Austin, Ind., and Kay (Charles) Stidham of Austin, Ind.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorials may be directed to Wyanet VFW 6634 or American Cancer Society.
Pallbearers will be Francis Day, Murrel Baker, Robert Johnson, Tom Marting, Roger Fox and John Graham.
