Robert Leon Richmond

Services will be Thursday for former Tracy resident and business owner Robert L. Richmond, 72, who died Wednesday at Sutter Amador Hospital in Jackson. The Richmonds moved to Pioneer 14 years ago.

A native of Fayetteville, Ark., Mr. Richmond lived in Tracy 23 years. He and his wife, Betty, owned Rebb's Bakery on East Street at Grant Line Road in Tracy 11 years. They also owned a second bakery in Manteca.

Mr. Richmond was a journeyman electrician 50 years and worked through the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 595. He was a member of the San Joaquin River Club, Mt. Oso Masonic Lodge Free and Accepted Masons 460, Tracy Elks Lodge Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks 2301, and the Tracy Moose Lodge 2283, from which he transferred to the Stockton Moose Lodge.

Mr. Richmond enjoyed hunting and fishing. He and his wife also enjoyed property development and built five homes together, the most recent in Pioneer.

He is survived by wife of 56 years, Betty L. Richmond; three children, Jackie Cavanaugh, and her husband, Joe Jr., and Linda Griffin, all of Tracy, and William Richmond, and his wife, Alice, of Patterson; seven grandchildren, William Lacey, Kevin Cavanaugh, and his wife, Laurie, and Gloria Bernard, and her husband, Willy, all of Tracy, Ian and Kara Richmond of Patterson, Richard Richmond of Knoxville, Tenn., and Donna Powelson, and her husband, Bobby, of White Pine, Mich.; eight great-grandchildren, Austin Cavanaugh, Megan Bernard, Lynzee Cavanaugh, and Haley and Alison Richmond, all of Tracy, and Douglas, Alyssa and Kimberly Powelson of White Pine; two sisters, Patsy Tungate of Carson, Nev., and Barbara Talley of Chubbuck, Idaho; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Richmond was preceded in death by a son, Robert Lee Richmond; and a granddaughter, Rene Griffin.

Thursday's services will begin at 1 p.m. at Hotchkiss Mortuary, 5 W. Highland Ave. Interment be in Tracy Cemetery following the service.
