Allan A. Richmond
October 19, 1940 – September 2, 2014

Allan A. Richmond, age 73 of Clinton, Michigan, he went home to be with the Lord at 4:54 p.m. Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, Ann Arbor, with his family and dear friends by his side.

Allan served in the United States Army from 1962 to 1965. He moved to Ypsilanti Michigan in 1965, where he was hired by Ford Motor Company and married the love of his life. In the early 80’s he left Ford to begin a life long journey of business ventures and he enjoyed the challenges this brought. He was well known for his skillful negotiations and creativity. He loved people, and never met a stranger. He was always reaching out with a helping hand to those in need. He especially had a soft spot in his heart for single moms and their children. Those who knew Allan often heard him say “I’ve never had a bad day in my life”. He enjoyed spending time with his children and took great pride in seeing their accomplishments. He loved his grandsons, they were a source of much joy.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Tena; four children, David Walker of Bainbridge, Pennsylvania, Timothy (Rachel) Richmond of Tipton Michigan, Allana Richmond of Ypsilanti, Michigan, and Travis Richmond of Centerville, Ohio; grandsons, Trenton and Tobin Richmond; sister, Shirley (Jack) Slayton of Austin Texas and niece, Kimberly Slayton of Austin, Texas.

Allan is preceded in death by his parents, George and Octavia; a brother George; and son George Allan.

Allan was a faithful member of Solid Rock Church in Clinton, Michigan where he worshipped with his children and grandchildren.

Friends may visit from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Friday at Rupp Funeral Home, 2345 S. Custer Rd., Monroe, MI 48161. Allan will lie instate 10 a.m. Saturday at Solid Rock Church, 77 Wadsworth St., Monroe, MI 48161 where services will be at 11 a.m. Reverend Scott Sistrunk will officiate. Burial will follow at Union-Udell Cemetery, Ypsilanti Twp.
