Our loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, fireman and friend, Rees George Richards, 69, passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home on Tuesday, December 11, 2012.
He was born February 13, 1943 in Brigham City, Utah, a son of George David and Ilene Rasmussen Richards. He attended Box Elder High School, fire and police service academies.
Rees married his sweetheart, Karen Steffenhagen on August 8, 1964 in Logan, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Ogden LDS Temple.
Rees was a member of the Brigham City Volunteer Fire Department for 38 years and also was employed by the Forestry, Fire and State Lands.
His number one love was his grandchildren and he also enjoyed hunting, trapping, fishing, spending time with his family and spending time in Grouse Creek.
Surviving are his wife, Karen; son, Dustin (Nickie) Richards; three grandchildren, Jessica, KayCee and Cody Richards all of Brigham City; two sisters, Linda (Steve) Burt; GeorgAnn (Jim) DeMille; one brother, Todd (Jana) Richards.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Troy and Darin Richards, two brothers, Rodger and Michael Richards.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Brigham City 6th LDS Ward Chapel, 105 Fishburn Drive. A viewing will be held on Friday, Dec. 14th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Gillies Funeral Chapel, 634 East 200 South, Brigham City, UT and on Saturday at the church from 11:00 to 12:30 p.m.
Interment will be in the Brigham City Cemetery where he will be honored by the Brigham City and County Fire Departments.
