EX-TRUSTEE FOR HARRIS TWP. GERMAINE GOFF DIES AT 77

GRANGER - Germaine T. Goff, former Harris Township trustee and deputy assessor, died at 11:15 p.m. Wednesday at the home of her sister on Edgefield Court, Mishawaka.
Mrs. Goff, 77, of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., was a former Granger resident.

She was a Harris Township historian who often told stories about how the township once was the site of the local airport. She authored a book, "The History of Harris Township."
Mrs. Goff retired from S & F Machine Co., Mishawaka, as a secretary. She served two terms as township trustee and was a deputy assessor for seven years.

She was born May 11, 1918, in Plymouth, and lived in Granger from 1954 to 1986. In 1938, in Mishawaka, as Germaine T. Richard, she married James W. Goff. He died Feb. 4, 1981.

She is survived by two daughters, Geraldine A. Papp of South Bend and Vicki Goff-Kastlie of San Diego; two sons, James R. of Seminole, Okla., and Douglas R. of Columbus, Ohio; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; eight sisters, Virginia Warner and Cecilia Pfledderer, both of South Bend, Clara White of Mishawaka, Rose Allsop of North Liberty, Annette Goon of Dyersville, Iowa, Alice McAndrews of Rochester, N. Y., Marcella Richard of Fort Lauderdale, and Mary Jane Heim of Oceanside, Calif.; and three brothers, Adrian Richard and Albert Richard, both of South Bend, and Ralph Richard of Tucson, Ariz.

She was a member of Daughters of Isabella of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mishawaka, and Ladies of the Elks Lodge 235, South Bend.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, South Bend. Burial will be in Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday in Guisinger Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, South Bend, where a rosary will be said at 4 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County, Inc.
