Sarah is the daughter of Charles & Elizabeth Rice. Here in Albion, Nebraska the first school was held and was taught by Miss Sarah Rice, in 1872, when six or eight scholars attended and $20 per month was considered ample compensation.
Sarah married Charles Bittmann at Albion, Nebraska on Sept. 6, 1874.
They had three sons., Albert G. he committed suicide after dropping out of West Point. Harmon and Loran. 1900 census they are living in Kansas. 1910 census living in San
Francisco. Sarah lived here till her death.
