ALBERT RUSSELL RHYNE
Albert Russell Rhyne, 77, Nevada, MO, passed away Tuesday, May 6, 2003, at St. John's Regional Medical Center, Joplin, MO, following a lengthy illness. He was born December 18, 1925, in 76, Missouri, to Luther Earl Rhyne and Nancy Ann Mahaney Rhyne. He married Norma June Keyes on July 3, 1945, in Springfield, MO, and she survives of the home.
Mr. Rhyne was born in 76, MO, and grew up in Springfield, MO, the youngest of several children. He graduated from Central High School, Springfield, MO, in 1944. Russell entered the Army in June 1944 and fought in Germany in the Battle of the Bulge, was captured and liberated a few months later. He worked for Fox Midwest Theater Chain for 17 years including managing the Fox Theaters in Nevada and Ft. Scott, KS. He retired as Postmaster of the Walker Post Office. He has lived in Nevada, MO, about 46 years. He was a past president of Walker Lions Club, an active member of the United Methodist Church, Nevada, the NARF (National Association of Retired Federal Employees), and past member of the Nevada Rotary Club.
Survivors in addition to his wife Norma of 58 years, include one son, Russell K. Rhyne, Nevada, MO; one daughter, Mary Katherene Rhyne Van Mater, five grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother and four sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 10, 2003, at the United Methodist Church with Pastors Ralph Clark and Scott Hall officiating. Interment will follow in Newton Burial Park. Friends may call now and until 9:00 a.m. on Saturday and the family receives friends 6:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, MO.
