Services for Libby Barker, 78, Canadian, will be at 2 p.m. today at the First United Methodist Church, Canadian. Burial will be in Edith Ford Memorial Cemetery.
Mrs. Barker died Saturday, May 2, 1998, in Canadian.
She was born May 15, 1919, in Lowe, Kan., the daughter of Franklin E. and Mary D. Sterling Rhodes.
She graduated from Sedan (Kan.) High School and graduated with a teacher's certificate from Coffeyville Junior College in Coffeyville, Kan., in 1938.
She taught for two years in schools near Wellington, Kan.
She moved to Canadian in the spring of 1945 from Albuquerque, N.M.
She worked at the Canadian library for 30 years, 26 as head librarian.
Mrs. Barker was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution, Woman's Club and the Genealogy Society. She was recognized as Woman of the Year by the Canadian-Hemphill County Chamber of Commerce in 1973. She also was a member and an official greeter of the First United Methodist Church.
She married Ed Barker on May 11, 1940, in Caney, Kan. He died Sept. 30, 1974.
A son, Roger Terry Barker, died in 1941.
Survivors include two sons, Tom Barker, El Paso, and Jim Barker, Montrose, Colo.; an adopted son, Bay V. Nguyen, Cary, N.C.; a brother, Bob Rhodes, Lawrence, Kan.; a sister, Ruth Whistler, Independence, Kan.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
