Lt. Col. Rhodes spent most her life in Syracuse, a graduate of Merrick School, Central High School and Central City Business School.
In 1942, she enlisted in the WAC, later attended Officer Candidate School and graduated as a second lieutenant. She served in the Signal Corps, working in the Pentagon during WWII.
After the war, Lt. Col. Rhodes served with occupation forces in Germany and Japan, returning to assignment at Governor's Island. Prior to retirement her last assignment was instructor at WAC School, Fort McClellan, Alabama. Since retirement she made her home in St Petersburg, Fla, with her mother Mrs. Carrie E. Rhodes.
