Milton Rhodes, aged 65 years, passed away at the home, 3733 Bales at midnight April 2nd. Survived by wife, Mrs. Catherine Rhodes (his second wife); three sons, Eugene Rhodes of 5526 Chestnut, Kansas City, Missouri; Robert Rhodes, 4110 Park, Kansas City, Missouri; and George B. Rhodes, of the home; 2 brothers, Edward Rhodes of Iola, Kansas; Allen Rhodes, Fort Scott, Kansas; 5 sisters, Mrs. Estella Sturdevant of Hiawatha, Kansas; Mrs. Bertha roberts of Fort Scott, Kansas; Mrs. Rose Penny of Atchison, Kansas; Mrs. Nell Schroer of Tulsa, Oklahoma and mrs. Grace Liggett of Fort Scott, Kansas. Funeral services will be held at the home, 3733 Bales Avenue. Interment in Forest Hill Cemetery, Kansas City, Missouri.
Milton was a homebuilder in the Kansas City area for many years. If you live in an older brick or stone house with a large front porch, chances are Milton built it.
Milton's first wife was Gertrude Ober. Gertie was 15 years of age when she married Milton, who was 24 years of age, in Colony, Anderson County, Kansas. They were married at the Bride's residence.
On October 19, 1903, Milton married his second wife, Catherine Bethune in Kansas City, Jackson County, Missouri.
