On the 1860 Dist. 1, Marion Co., Ky Census, he is listed as John L. Rhodes, a 59 year old, Ky native, a farmer. Living with him were his daughters, Sarah, Louisa and Victoria Rhodes. Also listed is Edward Whitfield, a 40 year old, white, Ky native, a farm hand.

Buried in St. Charles Cemetery, St. Mary, Ky; Section A; Card 25; # 4. The book about St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Cemetery by Gerald Thompson, states that his marker has the inscription: "John L. Rhodes b. 8-11-1801 - d. 8-11-1864."
