Obituary on cemetery web site: A. Evelyn Auchenbach, 87, Muhlenberg Township, passed away Feb. 19, 2008, at 1:30 p.m. surrounded by her family. She was the wife of Warren R. Auchenbach. Born Oct. 2, 1920, in Hyde Crest, Muhlenberg Township, she was a daughter of the late Cleon R. and Agnes (LoCicero) Rhoads. Evelyn was a beautician for eight years, employed by Agnes Rhoads Beauty Shop. Later she worked in the accounting department of the former Prestolite Corp., Muhlenberg Township, for 15 years, retiring in 1976. Mrs. Auchenbach was a 1938 graduate of Muhlenberg High School and also a graduate of Reading Academy of Beauty Culture. She was a member of Holy Guardian Angels Roman Catholic Church, Hyde Park. In addition to her husband "Auchy," she is survived by her daughter, Evelyn A. (Auchenbach) Braun, Temple, widow of Tim Braun, and her son, Bob Auchenbach, husband of Kip, Harleysville. Other survivors include her grandchildren: Erika (Braun) Sager, wife of Roger, Leesport; Timothy A. Braun, husband of Christine; Melissa (Auchenbach) Jernigan, husband of Thomas; and Jennifer Auchenbach, and her great-grandchildren: Meghan, Emilie, Vivien, Nick, Rose and Makenna. Mrs. Auchenbach, at the time of her passing, was expecting twin great-grandsons. There are also many loving nieces and nephews. Mrs. Auchenbach was predeceased by her sister, Vivien Manzella; her brother, J. Cleon Rhoads; and her son-in-law, Tim Braun. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. in Holy Guardian Angels Roman Catholic Church, 3121 Kutztown Road, Hyde Park. Entombment will be in the Chapel of St. George at Gethsemane Cemetery. Friends may call Saturday 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. in the Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., West Reading. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the Tim Braun Memorial Scholarship Fund c/o Berks County Community Foundation: Attention Frances A. Aitken, PO Box 212, Reading, PA, 19603-0212.
