Dorothy Elliott Baker, 90, of Gatesville, Texas, passed away Sunday, February 20, 2011 in the Meadows in Gatesville. Services are pending with McCauley Funeral Home in Franklin.

Services for Dorothy (Reynolds) Elliott Baker, will be on Thursday, February 24, at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Franklin. The Rev. Jim Manning will officiate. Burial will follow in Franklin Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, February 23, at McCauley Funeral Home in Franklin.
Dorothy Reynolds Elliott Baker was born on July 3, 1920 in Fort Worth, Texas to Mr. and Mrs. A.E. Reynolds. She moved to McGregor, Texas at an early age and attended school. There she met and married E.P. "Sonny" Elliott and moved to Franklin, Texas in 1951. She worked at First National Bank of Franklin for 22 years.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Franklin, Rebakah Sunday school class, Franklin Chapter No. 311 Order of the Eastern Star, a lifetime member of the Robertson County Law Enforcement Association, and a member of the Sheriff's Association of Texas. Her husband of 46 years, Sheriff E.P. "Sonny" Elliott passed away on March 24, 1983. In 1995 she married James W. Baker and lived in Gatesville, Texas until the time of her death. There she was a member of the Veteran's of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by her husband, James W. Baker of Gatesville; three daughters and their husbands, Patsy Sanders of Franklin, Kay and Raymond Batten of Nacogdoches, Judy and Charley Clark of College Station; two step-daughters and husband, Sandra Lee of Gatesville and Carolyn and Fletcher Sibley of Cheyenne, Wyo.; sister, Jo Polston and husband, James, of Emery; sisters-in-law, Ida Segler of Fort Worth, Janie Reynolds of Arlington, Florence Queen of Amarillo and Norma Jean Keith of Brookville, Fla.; brothers-in-law, Ben Baker of Waco and Melvin Baker of Marlin, numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by seven grandsons and one granddaughter and their spouses, Keith and Lisa Sanders, Terry and Kay Sanders, Phil and Stephanie Sanders and Chuck and Suzanne Batten, all of Franklin, Eric Batten of Dallas, Brian and Tiffany Batten of Nacogdoches, Jon and Rita Clark of Plano, Julie Eisenrich and husband, Jarrett, of College Station; 14 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
The family would especially like to thank the Meadows of Gatesville, VistaCare Hospice and her niece, Sharon and husband, Van Necessary, for all the wonderful care of our loved one during her illness.

She was married twice, 1st marriage to Emory Philmore Elliott Nov. 6, 1937 in Marlin, Falls County, Texas. Emory passed March 23, 1983 in Robertson County, Texas. They had 3 children: Patsy Ann, Phylis Kay, and Judy Gail.
