Inscription
From The History and Descendants of John and Sarah Reynolds [1630?-1923] of Watertown, Mass., and Wethersfield, Stamford and Greenwich, Conn., by Marion H. Reynolds: "Israel Reynolds, born at "Horseneck" Greenwich, Conn., April 21, 1782; died August 7, 1869; married Rachel Seward, 1802. If Israel's mother Hepzibah were really born in 1724 (i.e. 104 at her death in 1828), she would have been 58 at Israel's birth, and eleven years older than her husband; therefore Hepzibah Reynolds, No. 237 in this book, who was born 1744, seems much more logical as the wife of Reuben and mother of Israel."
He was the son of Reuben Reynolds, who was the son of Reuben Reynolds, Sr. Reuben Sr. was the son of Joseph Reynolds, who was the son of Jonathan Reynolds, son of John Reynolds the first known American Reynolds of New England.
