Charles A. Reynolds, 60 years old, died at his home, at Lincoln Avenue and Johnson Street road, this morning after an extended period of illness. He was well known in this city where he had made his home for a number of years and where he was an influential and valuable citizen.
His death followed a period of illness extending over 14 weeks. He had been confined in a local hospital for 6 weeks. Death was caused by cancer.
He was married in this city about 32 years ago to Miss Augusta Rockenbach.
From the time he came to this city until a few year ago, the deceased lived in the city. Recently however he moved to the home where he died, devoting himself there to fruit farming.
During his residence here he was active in securing the organization of a fire department and when the department was organized he was one of the first to volunteer his services. Later when the department was put on a paying basis, he served as a minute man in the department.
Following his death this morning, the fire bells at all 3 fire stations in the city were tolled in honor of his memory.
He was a member of the Odd Fellows and was actively interested in the affairs of that organization at all times.
He is survived by his wife and 3 children, 2 sons and a daughter. His sons are Arthur Reynolds and Melvin Reynolds. His daughter is Ruby Reynolds. All three live at the home here. He is also survived by 2 brothers, Silas Reynolds of this city, and John Reynolds, who lives in Utah.
