HIRAM REX OF SOUTH BEND

Hiram Rex of South Bend, the brother-in-law of Mrs. Mary Sager of this city, and well known here, where he had a number of relatives, died last Monday afternoon at the age of seventy-three years. The funeral service will be held at the home, 236 Paris street, at 1 o'clock tomorrow, and the burial will take place at the Zion cemetery in Washington township, six miles northeast of Elkhart. He had lived in South Bend since 1876. Surviving him are his wife, two daughters and a son. The son, Elmer Rex, is at Ft. Benjamin Harrison. Mr. Rex had been a member of the Methodist church over forty years.

Married abt 1866 Christena _____. Shortly after their marriage they moved to Colbert Co, Alabama and farmed for a few years, moving back to Indiana abt 1876 where they lived in South Bend the rest of their lives.
In 1880 Hiram was an agent for patent medicines. A few years later he was a township tax assessor, and later became a realtor and owned his own business.
Christena died in 1900 and he married 2nd Sarah C. Young 26 Nov 1901.
He died at his home in South Bend.
Known children (1st marriage): Minnie, Daniel, Grace, Elmer.
