Gary R. Rewerts, 54, of Sullivan died 7:15 p.m. Friday (Feb. 22, 2002) in his home.
Services will be 11:30 a.m. Tuesday in Brintlinger & Earl Funeral Homes with visitation 5 to 8 p.m. Monday. Burial will be in Findlay Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard. Memorials: American Cancer Society, St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Mattoon, or GCI Blue Star Memorial Fund.
Mr. Rewerts was born March 15, 1947, in Decatur, the son of Wilbur & Fern Drew Rewerts. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Mattoon. He served in the Navy & retired from Caterpillar Inc. in 1998 after 31 years of service. Gary was a member & former representative of the UAW 751. He enjoyed hunting, fishing & boating in his leisure time. After retiring, along with his wife, Gary refinished Blue Star Markers, one being at the VA Clinic in Decatur. He married kathleen M. Creamer Oct. 30, 1971, in St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Decatur.
Surviving are his wife; mother of Decatur; grandmother, Faye Drew of Decatur; brothers, David Rewerts & wife Debbie of Decatur; Rick Rewerts & wife Kelly of Brownsburg, Ind.
He was preceded in death by his father & infant brother.
