Ernest Reitzel
Ernest Leroy Reitzel, 90, of Hickory, died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2008, at the
Brian Center-Viewmont.
Born June 20, 1917, in Catawba County, he was the son of the late Norris
Columbus Reitzel and Lovie Ellen Mingus Reitzel. Mt. Reitzel was a carpenter and
a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church on Springs Road.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years,
Ethel Ferguson Reitzel; granddaughter, Emily Reitzel; brothers, Carroll Reitzel
and Clarence Reitzel; sisters, Bertha Hefner, Hattie Hoke, Jennie Hedrick and
Stella Mae Reitzel.
He is survived by his son, Jack Arvin Reitzel and wife Mary of Hickory; three
daughters, Shirley Jean Coffey and husband Max of Lenoir, Inez Helen Triplett of
Hickory, and Doris Ann Parker and husband Exie of Hickory; nine grandchildren,
13 great-grandchildren, two step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren;
and a sister, Alma Inez Hefner of Hickory.
A service of remembrance will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 28, 2008, in the
chapel of Drum Funeral Home in Hickory, 940 29th Ave. NE, with the Rev. Kenneth
Poarch officiating. Burial will follow in St. Luke's Lutheran Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5-6:30 p.m. today at Drum Funeral Home in
Hickory.
The family would like to thank the staff at Brian Center-Viewmont for the
loving care they provided.
Those who wish may make memorial donations to St. Luke's Lutheran Church
Building Fund, 3916 Springs Road, Conover, NC 28613.
