Irene was born August 5, 1939, in Schneidmuhl, Germany. At the age of 19 she came to America, where she met her husband Capt. Elmer S. Bolles, USMC (Ret.), and from this union were born three children, Jim, Karl and Elizabeth. She was a wonderful wife, mother and sister and a deeply devoted grandmother and friend. Irene worked for Dillard's at Independence Center for 12 years, where she received many Pacesetter Awards for her outstanding sales in the men's Polo section, she worked as a dealer at the Flamingo Casino for three years and was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church of Independence. She was truly a beautiful person who is dearly loved and will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Elmer S. Bolles, her parents, Karl and Elisabeth Reis, a sister, Heidi Reis, and a brother, Joseph Reis.
She is survived by two sons, Jim Bolles and wife, Sandy, of Overland Park, Kan., and Karl Bolles of Independence; a daughter, Elizabeth Boyles and husband, Robert, of Blue Springs, Mo.; two sisters, Milly Richter of Katzenfurt, Germany, and Erika Retzbach and husband, Ferdinand, of Cologne, Germany; two brothers, Willy Reis and wife, Erna, of Hanau, Germany, and Walter Reis and wife, Annie, of Ingolstadt, Germany; two brothers-in-law, Carl Bolles and wife, Betty, of Independence, and Tom Bolles of Anchorage, Alaska; eight grandchildren, Zachary White, Erika and Parker Bolles, and Devin, Christian, Cameron, Cooper and Robert Boyles Jr.; a niece, Carla Lang and husband, Dennis, of Rogers, Ark.; and a nephew, Craig Bolles and wife, Karla, of Kearney, Mo.
Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 4, at the Chapel of Memories Funeral Home, Grain Valley, Mo., (816) 463-4030. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest with her husband in Mount Washington Forever Cemetery, Independence. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Kansas City Hospice in Irene's name.
