A memorial service for Carl Reimann will held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, February 2, 2009 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 869 7th Avenue SE, with Pastor James Heining officiating. Visitation will be an hour before the service at church.
Carl Reimann, 93, died Wednesday at Shorewood Senior Campus. He was born in West Point, MS on May 15, 1915. At the age of two, he moved with his family to Northwestern, IA. After graduating from Primghar High School in 1933, he worked as a surveyor for O'Brien County and as an assistant area cast engineer for the WPA. As a member of the 2766th Army Engineer stationed in Manila during WWII, he drafted army invasion maps from aerial surveillance pictures. In 1957, after farming for several years near Blooming Prairie, MN, he returned to the engineering field and worked for the city of Rochester Dept. of Public Works as an engineering technician and design draftsman until retiring in 1980. He married Viola Summer in 1941. Together they had three children. Carl was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church. He enjoyed carpentry projects, televised sporting events, and word puzzles of all kinds. His greatest joys were his children, grandchildren, and friends.
He is survived by his children; LaDonna (Donald) Hoffmann, of Eyota, Cheri Reimann, of Reno, NV, and Steve (Mary) Reimann of Chugiak, AK; one sister, Edith (Phil) Tennis, of Hayward, MN; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Carl is preceded in death by his wife; parents; three brothers; one sister; and one great-granddaughter.
Memorials may be designated to Mayo Hospice or the Rochester Central Lutheran School Scholarship Fund.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes.
