Pinckney Dispatch, July 1, 1920 Mrs. L D Brokaw-Louisa Reeves was born at Pinckney, Nov 8, 1852. She was the daughter of George & Martha Allison Reeves who came to Pinckney in 1836 among the earliest settlers. She was married to Laverne D Brokaw in Jan. 1881. To this union one daughter, Kitsey was born. They lived on the Brokaw farm until 1891 when they moved to Howell, there Brokaw engaged in merchantile business and Mrs. Brokaw was an active member of the Women's Club and much loved by her friends. In 1907 they went to Detroit to reside. At this home Kitsey was married to Laurence T Clark. Mr & Mrs. Clark lived in the Brokaw home and the quartette constituted a happy family. This past winter, Mr & Mrs. Brokaw and Mrs. Clark visited Colorado, returning in May. Soon after their return Mrs. Brokaw was stricken with pneumonia. She was ill five weeks passing away at her home at 108 Charlotte Ave., Detroit, June 23, 1920. She leaves to mourn, her husband, her daughter, two sisters, Mrs. Edna Maxwell of Bay City, Mrs. Theresa Mann, a nephew George Mann of Detroit and a brothers family in Lansing. Services held at the home Saturday, June 26 with burial at Pinckney cemetery, Rev. J E Cook, officiated.
