George Reeves, well known farmer who has lived near Whitewright for the past 44 years, died at 10 o'clock Saturday night at his home two miles east of this city, following a long illness.
Mr. Reeves was 63 years old. He was a native of Kentucky, but came to Texas with his mother and other members of the family in 1875, settling near Ladonia. After a residence of five years in that section he moved to this community and joined his brother, the late Will Reeves, in the purchase of substantial farm property, where they resided and reared large families in the years following.
The deceased is survived by a widow and the following children: Mrs. Bessie Compton, Mrs. Cecil Inman, Mrs. Clo Billner, Pate, Jake and Misses Florence and Helen Reeves.
The funeral and interment was at Blanton Cemetery three miles east of Whitewright Sunday afternoon, Elder W. N. Carter conducting the services.
