Norma Jean Hanson, 80, of Cheyenne died May 24 in Cheyenne with her two daughters, Sherri and Kevin Pyle and Kathy Schnell, and her grandson Chad Heigis, all by her side.

She was born Dec. 6, 1932, in Big Timber, Mont., to Don and Georgia (Farthing) Reese.

Norma married David Heigis and had seven children. She later married Ronald Hanson in 1973, and they owned and operated Green Acres Café in Pine Bluffs for several years. Norma finally moved to Casper in 1980 and was employed at the Wyoming Youth Center, retiring in 1992.

She was a member of Women of the Moose Lodge 306, holding leadership as a senior regent. Norma was also a member of Grace Lutheran Church.

Norma is survived by three daughters, Sherri Pyle (Kevin) of Cheyenne, Kathy Schnell of Dodge, N.D., and Joyce Thorson of Manhattan, Mont.; a son, David Heigis of Cheyenne; two half sisters, Leona Hobbs of Golden, Colo., and Loretta Sherrodd of Montana; and her special companion, Chuck Parson of Cheyenne.
