Iris was born on September 5, 1922 in Roscoe, Texas to I.C. and Elvie Owens Muns. She grew up in Sweetwater and graduated from Sweetwater High School. She was long-time member of the 4th and Elm Church of Christ where her father served as an elder. It was there that she met a visiting student from Abilene Christian College, Leon Reese, who became the love of her life. They married on June 7, 1941 at her parent's home in Sweetwater. While a student at ACC, she was a campus beauty, an eager learner, and was greatly loved.
Not long after World War II, Leon and Iris moved back to Abilene where they raised their three children, and where they were faithful members of the University Church of Christ. In addition to being a homemaker, Iris worked in several capacities for her husband, who was an oil distributor and businessman. She was also the Assistant Director of the Office of Student Financial Aid at Abilene Christian for many years. She long served as a volunteer for the Christian Service Center and Meals On Wheels. She was deeply involved in the lives of her children and grandchildren, attending an incalculable number of ball games, plays, and other events.
Surviving Iris is her husband Leon, three sons; Randy Reese and wife Donna, Jack Reese and wife Jeanene, and Jim Reese and wife Jody, nine grandchildren Barry(Molly) Reese, Kedra (Alan) Brown, Derran (Ann) Reese, Jessica (Jonathan) Goudeau, Jocelyn (Mark) Wiebe, Jay Reese, Justin (Hollie) Reese, Jenna (Matt) Cope and Jordan (Clark) Harrell, sixteen great grandchildren and a brother James Muns and wife Betty.
