Charles Edward Rees, 69, of Eagle, Idaho passed away May 8, 2012 after a short illness.
Ed was born July 22, 1942 to Carlos and Lola (Maxwell) Rees in Thayer, Missouri and was the second of four children. He attended Thayer Grade School and moved to Richfield, Idaho in 1955. He graduated as Valedictorian in 1960, and excelled in all sports.
Ed attended the University of Idaho for one semester, but saw no future in Dairy Science and joined the Army in 1961. He served in Germany, Korea and accepted an appointment to West Point, but a broken ear drum prevented his attendance.
Upon discharge, he attended BJC where he played baseball and graduated in 1966. He then attended Utah State University, was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity and graduated with an accounting degree in 1967.
He was an accountant and CPA for Ernest and Young in Boise and Pocatello Hospital in Pocatello. He returned to Boise and was a CPA and CFO for St. Lukes's Hospital and retired in 1992. Later he became CFO for Elks Rehabilitation Hospital and retired again in 2006.
Ed married his college sweetheart, Renee Pearman, on December 28, 1967 and they had four daughters.
Ed's favorite pastimes before and after retirement were golf, hunting, traveling by RV, dutch oven cooking, and grandchildren.
Ed is survived by his wife, Renee; his four daughters, Stacey Rees Orozco, Stefani (Don) Dwyer, Shellee (Marti) McReynolds and Shari (Eric) Gordon; 13 grandchildren, (Hillary, Noah, BreElle, Jackson, Holly, Sam, Alexis, Megan, Sydney, Mackenzie, Hunter, Dawson, Alana); and two brothers, Jim Rees and Bill Rees.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Leola Rees.
A viewing for family and friends will be held Saturday, May 12, 2012 from 4:00p.m. to 6:00p.m. at Summers Funeral Homes, Ustick Chapel. Services will be held on Monday, May 14 at 11:00 a.m. at the L.D.S. Church located at 700 W. State St., Eagle. Graveside services to follow at 1:00 p.m. at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery.
Services are under the direction of Summers Funeral Homes, Ustick Chapel.
