DAVID REES DEAD
David Rees died of heart failure at his home, 201 Market Street, last evening at 8 o'clock. Two weeks ago, Mr. Rees suffered a stroke of paralysis and a second stroke last Saturday. Funeral services will be conducted at the Seventh Day Adventist Church at Second Avenue and Constitution Street tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Interment will be in Maplewood cemetery.
Mr. Rees was born in Miami county, Ohio, October 9, 1836. He married Miss Mary Moran, at Litchfield, Ill., November 5, 1865. They came to Kansas in 1894, settling in Minneapolis. They moved to Emporia in 1896. Mr. Rees served in the Civil War from the beginning to the end of the conflict. He marched through Georgia with General Sherman. He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church forty-six years.
Mr. Rees is survived by Mrs. Rees, three children, Mrs. Nora Crawford, who lives in Texas; Mrs. A.S. Allen and Clyde Rees, of Emporia; and a niece, Mrs. Emma Clark, of New York City.

The funeral of David Rees was held in the Seventh Day Adventist Church, yesterday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. The services were conducted by the Rev. M.J. Huffman, of Parsons. Interment was in Maplewood Cemetery. Pall-bearers were: D.W. Hainer, W.D. Crowder, J.M. Knox, Charles Harris, J.H. Ray and E. Newport.
