Civil War Union Army Officer. He moved to Kansas at the age of 21 and when the war broke out he enlisted as a private of the 1st Kansas Volunteer Infantry and in 1863 was commissioned Captain. He was also the son of Governor Andrew Horatio Reeder. He was editor of the Easton Daily Express and purchased the Express in 1870. He also learned the business of tanning under Jay Gould and was President of the Erie Railroad. He had two brothers who also served in the Civil War, General Frank Reeder and Captain Howard J. Reeder.
