Nora was the oldest child of farmers James P. & Nancy R. (Patton) McGee. She and sister Clara lived with their Aunt Sophia W. (Patton) Long after their father died in the Civil War and their mother died or remarried.
She married Rev. William H. Young in Shinnston, WV on Feb. 29, 1872. They were the parents of George Orville, Hugh Festus, Willa Camella and Harry Quillen Young.
She later married carpenter Clinton H. Reed on April 20, 1893 in Buckhannon, WV.
